REDS ADD TO SQUAD WITH THREE QUALITY SIGNINGS

Whitchurch Alport Football Club are delighted to announce the signing of former Crewe Alexandra midfielder Joe Howell (pictured).

Joe, 20 years old, was released by Crewe last year and moved to AFC Fylde but injury blighted his stay at Mill Farm and he missed most of the 2016/17 campaign. Joe signed for Halesowen Town in the Evo Stik Premier in the summer and has made six appearances for them so far. However, the commitment of travelling has made Howell look for football closer to home and we are thrilled that he has chosen Yockings Park. as his next destination. The youngster is a player who was rated highly at Crewe Alex and manager Luke Goddard hopes the club are able to push Joe forward again.

“Joe came on our radar last week and he’s a player that has come highly recommended to us. He obviously has a great upbringing through the academy and he is hungry to now do well in the non league game. We`ve been looking to boost the squad following a few injuries and Joe fits the sort of player we look to attract to the club. Collectively we will give him the platform to progress and I`m sure once he has settled in, the Red Army will see the quality he has and they’ll soon be chanting his name. It’s very important that players enjoy the environment they`re in and I’m confident that Joe will thrive here under our guidance.”

Following Howell into Yockings Park is forward Ansoumane Konde who has been passed to the management team from Altrincham FC boss Phil Parkinson. AK, also 20 years of age, is a big powerful striker who has had stints at Cork City, Chorley and most recently Stockport County U21s. He has been training with Altrincham and is a player Goddard thinks could become a handful in the North West Counties: “Firstly, I must thank Steve May and Phil Parkinson who have helped get AK here. Phil described what AK could probably offer us, and after seeing him train with us this week his assessment was spot on. He is raw but something different to what we already have and hopefully if he stays training with both us and Alty, then between us we can unearth that potential AK has. It gives us a further option in forward areas along with the re-signing of Matty Ashbrook last week. All these players can excite supporters so there’s much to look forward to.”

Howell should be eligible to feature in tomorrow’s fixture at Litherland Remyca, however, the paperwork for Konde will not be complete in time for this weekend. We wish all of the players all the best at Yockings Park and hope they enjoy their time with us.
