alport progressed to the Q/F of shropshire fa cup ,alport went in front on the half hour when danny croft finished from 18 yards alport made a number of chances but could not find that second goal before half time with dawley not having any clear cut chances .the second half saw dawley come into the game and drew level from a corner ,then on the hour went 2-1 up when alport let them in ,alport then had attack after attack with blundell and suddaby both hitting the cross bar and for there attaacking efforts got back on deserved level terms when midfielder ben yarwood struck from 12 yards to take the game into extra time ,alport continued to attack and found the winner in the second half of extra time with mike blundell hammering home from 8 yards to put alport in the next round.
we deserved to go through with the amount of chances we created, but dawley played there part in the game, denson ,price and dave suddaby were outstanding

alport failed to take the points after a first half effort divided the teams from rudheaths sam didsbury, alport had thee best chance early in the half when mike blundell put his effort over the bar from close range, but alport failed to make any more decent chances although they railed towards the end to try and find a way back into the game.rudheath got the goal and sat on it trying to hit us on the break, they did to us what we have been doing to teams over the last couple of seasons
we wernt good enough in the final third and were carrying a number of players with below par performances ,it wasn't good enough simple as that.we will be looking at it this week and will be making changes for the shropshire fa county cup game this week

alport went through to the q/finals after coming through a tricky tie away at sandbach, alport started the better of the 2 teams with an early chance from a lee stephens cross saw mike blundell head over the bar, alport kept creating the better chances with sandbach finding it hard to break down the alport defence who looked strong with suddaby wilis and denson looking well organised, the teams went in level at half time.15 mins into the second half saw striker luke woollam break away drew the sandbach keeper joesph grant go round him and slot the ball into the bottom right hand corner to put alport in front ,sandbach drew level against the run of play when a weak 20 yard shot from philip smith went under alport keeper nick ashley ,this didn't stop alport and they got the winner when blundell burst into the sandbach area to cross for woollam to get his second of the game and his 7th of the season to get the winner and put alport in the last 8.
this was an excellent away performance, very well organised and the players did the job that they were sent out to do.this now sets us up for a massive league game this week against rudheath in which chris suddaby, darragh ocallaghan and tim drohan sghould return to the squad as well as new sighning danny croft from middlewich town

whitchurch alport 1 whaley bridge 3
alport with several players missing went out of the league cup to a strong whaley side, whaley taking a 0-3 lead by the half hour ,alport darragh ocallaghan pulling a goal back before half time, the second half saw alport get into the game more and attacked whaley throughout the second half with rhys nevett going close twice and mike blundell pulling a fine save from the whaley keeper
the players after that first 30 mins showed great character to get back into the game ,we were up against from Friday lunch time when alport keeper nick ashley had to go to a&e with a wrist injury and was out of the game ,the other 2 stand in keepers shelton and proctor are both injured so outfield player lee stephens went in goal,we also lost ben yarwood before the game and were down to the bare bones with striker darragh ocallaghan playing the first half with a hamstring injury and lasted to half time,we tried to pull 2 players from the reserves who because of the cup game had played for the first team earlier in the season ,but were unavailable due to a golf day organised by the reserves!
our injury list is a great concern and growing and ive never known a season like it for injuries:
nick ashley wrist
luke woollam broken ribs
rhys hall knee
darragh ocallaghan hamstring
tim drohan ankle ligaments
chris morris neck

alportt lost chris suddaby before the game groin which was a major blow and gave a full debut to ryan edge who stepped up and did an excellent job
alport put on a poor first half performance not anything like they have been playing in recent weeks and found themselves a goal down going into the break, alport only creating a couple of half chances, the second half saw alport come out as a different team and moved up a couple of gears and took the game to congleton and took control of the game with midfield player ben yarwood pulling the strings in midfield. a through ball saw striker mike blundell through on goal to calmly finish to put alport level, alport then went in front when a pin point ball played by blundell through to striker darragh ocallaghan who slotted the ball into the net, alport then went looking for the third with ocallaghan firing wide ,blundell heading over and alport forcing a series of corners, and alport took the 3 points to make it 6 wins in all comps in a row
the players had a great response to what was said at half time we all new we where poor first half but the performance second half was a lot better.we now have a free week this week and the players will have this Saturday off and they deserve it after 6 straight wins in a row and it gives us some breathing space to get the injuries sorted out with 7 players out injured today

alport travelled to daten fc without a number of first team players drohan hall aspinall nevett higgins all injured and denson and blundell unavailable ,ryan edge stepped up from the reserves .

the second half saw alport sart a lot better and were awarded a penalty when a daten defender handled on the line, darragh ocallaghan stepped up to put alport in front, luke woollam rib injury had to be replaced by ryan edge and it was ryan edge who scored alports third with a good finish from the edge of the area, alport now with there tails up missed a number of chances but ocallaghan got his second of the game and alports 4th with 10 mins remaining.

alport continued there good run of form with there 3rd victory in a row ,in much of a lacklustre first half with alports best chance failing to tim drohan who fired wide ,maine rd had a couple of decent chances but found alport keeper nick ashley in outstanding form, just before half time alport lost striker tim drohan who went down with an ankle injury and we had to send for the ambulance, drohan has tissue damage and will be out for 6 weeks (4 of which he will be serving his suspension for being sent off at barnton 2 weeks ago).
5 mins into the second half alport took the lead when a well taken corner by lee stephens saw the maine rd keeper make a mistake and the ball ended up in the net, luke woollam then scored by going past the defender to slide the ball home to put alport 2 up ,maine rd then broke away from an alport corner and pulled a goal back although it looked off side, alport then sealed the game when striker darragh ocallaghan shot the keeper saved but woollam was on hand to score his second of the game to continue a good run of goals for him.
we didn't get going first half but played a lot better second half in the last 3 games we have come a lot tighter defensively as we look to climb the table.

whitchurch alport defending the trophy they won last season had a tricky first rd tie away at rudheath ,in very hot conditions ,alport created chances through headers just wide from tim drohan and dave suddaby, also striker mike blundell going close on a couple of times, rudheath chances were restricted to efforts from long range in the first half, the second half saw alport start slowly but soon coming back into the game and getting on top then alport got the breakthrough when chris suddaby put the ball back across the rudheath goal for striker luke woollam to tap home from close range, rudheath had some chances to get level but found alport keeper nick ashley in outstanding form to keep a clean sheet and send alport into the q/finals.
another pleasing professional performance and keeps us unbeaten away from home, the players put tremendous effort in .

alport opened the scoring on 5 mins when a good move saw mike blundell finish from close range, alport playing some of there best football of the season and also having there strongest squad out with last season leading scorer darragh o callaghan coming into the squad for the first time this season after being away in america giving the team a lift with his return and taking up a place on the bench, alport continued to create chances and push barnton back, but then a 2 footed tackle by tim drohan saw him get a straight red which we had no complaints with, but even being down to 10 men alport continued the pressure h/t 0-1
the second half saw much of the same and a great run down the right from lee stephens saw him smash the ball into the roof of the net to put alport 2 up,minutes later hard working captain and midfield player gavin brocklehurst scored with a low left foot drive from 20 yards to put alport 3 up,ocallaghan then replaced the injured blundell and nevett replaced rhys hall and danny higgins replaced dave suddaby, ocallaghan and nevett went close, barnton pulled a goal back but alport increased there lead further when lee stephens headed home from close range for alport to run out deserved winners 1-4
we were a lot stronger today and fully deserved the 3 points all the credit to the players as we played over an hour with 10 men

whaley bridge started the brighter side and took the lead on 20 mins when raymond dwoitka scored, whaley went 0-2 up up on 30 mins when bill sutton headed home with alport slack marking, but alport didn't deserve to be behind in a much even first half ,the second half saw alport the better team with more of the play but pushing to pull a goal back left gaps at the back and whaley broke away twice and scored through dwoitka again and sub mike ward, alport went close through tim drohan and dave suddaby and phil denson flashed a shot wide, tim drohan pulled a consolation back near the end.
the performance was a lot better and it wasn't a 1-4 game ,we paid the price for letting in 2 soft goals first half and although the players worked hard we could not recover, but the players need to work harder and close down quicker to get to the levels of last season then the results will come

we lacked in the final third and the performance was now where near as good last week, but again we had players missing and had to make 6 changes from last week with brocklehurst wedding morris work cartwright hols denson ,baldwin inj higgins flu .until we get a settled side and everyone is committed the results are going to be up and down

whaley bridge 1 whitchurch alport 2
alport travelled the longest journey in the league a round trip of 140 miles with for the first time this season a much stronger squad to choose from with denson, morris, drohan, aspinall all returning to the starting 11 and rhys hall and new signing from crewe fc in the summer mike blundell making there first starts of the season from the bench ,blundell returning from a pre season hamstring injury.new side to the league whaley bridge had made a great start to there season with four wins out of four to sit top of the league.
In a very even first half of a very competitive game saw both defences well organised and both teams only shooting from close range and to finish goaless at half time .rhys hall replaced matt baldwin who had a hamstring injury
The second half on 55 mins saw whaley awarded a free kick which didn't look like one,but the ref gave it whaleys left winger matthew brown direct from the free kickhit a brillant effort into the top corner giving alport keeper ashley no chance to put whaley in front, which they didn't deserve, alport then rolled there sleeves up and got the bit between there teeth and for the first time this season with players back alport looked like the team who went so close to promotion last season.alport piled on the pressure with drohan going close, lee stephens was then replaced on 65 mins by new sighning mike blundell making his debut,on 68 mins alport were level when chris suddaby rose in the area to head home to give whaley keeper tattersall no chance, alport now went looking for all 3 points hitting the post and then on 88 mins a poor clearance by whaley keeper tatttersall fell to blundell who rolled the ball into the net to send alport home with the 3 points.
this was a good end to the bad week the club have had with the break in .the attitude and effort the players put in was brillant a full professional performance.weve had a thread bare squad for the first 5 games and i said we had to pick some points up ,the first 6 games weve won 2 drawn 3 and lost 1 and this win puts us right back in there even though its early doors ,the squad will get even stronger from the 17th sept when last years leading scorer darragh o callaghan and dave suudaby return

alport 2 poynton fc 5
alport again with a number of players still unavailable started the game well but were pegged back by poynton who opened the scoring after poor defending from alport, poynton shortly after made it 0-2,alport missed a couple of decent chances through tim drohan and rhys nevett before drohan was put through and slid the ball past the on coming andy cowell poynton keeper ,poynton then hit the sucker blow just before half time to make it 1-3 just as it looked alport were getting into the game half time.
after some stern words in the alport changing room at half time it didn't seem to make a difference as poynton hit a goal early in the second half to put the game out of reach and then made it 5,alport kept at it and a tim drohan free kick was headed home by matt moores.
this was a lacklustre poor defending performance and i certainly let the players know my feelings after the game ,i know we had important players missing but that's no excuse for this type of performance we just wernt good enough.

Crew FC 2 - Whitchurch Alport 2
Alport went into this local derby still missing several key players. The fixture began at a predictably frenetic pace and it was the home side that enjoyed the majority of the early possession. Alport's best opportunity of the half fell to striker Luke Woolam whose powerful strike was saved well by the Crewe keeper Harding. The home side were unfortunate not to be leading going into the break, Alport having keeper Andy Shelton and the crossbar to thank for keeping them on level terms.
The second half began with Alport changing their formation to match that of their South Cheshire counterparts. Crewe looked the stronger side, continually pushing forward to break the deadlock but the first goal of the game went Alport's way on the hour when a Lee Stephens free kick was turned into the net at close range from the head of Tim Drohan.
Alport continued to resolutely defend their lead and looked to hit the home side on the break, Drohan causing mayhem amongst the Crewe defence and showing what a loss to the side his absence had been during pre season. As the game opened up chances fell to both sides and when winger Suddaby went through on goal, only a superb double save from Crewe keeper Harding denied Alport increasing their lead. With only ten minutes left a speculative shot from thirty yards saw Crewe level the score, and the home side believed that they had secured their first three points of the season when a deflected effort from Crewe striker Ian Carr hit the net. Despite efforts from the Crewe side and it's partisan crowd to slow the game down and hold onto their advantage, they hadn't accounted for Drohan, who having earn t a free kick on the edge of the Crewe box converted a pearler of a right footed shot into the top corner of the Crewe net with the last kick of the game.
Commenting on the result Alport assistant manager Gavin Day payed tribute to the Alport team saying 'This wasn't our best performance by a long chalk, but what it did show was the never say die attitude of our players and their determination to battle when things don't go our way. Not many teams will go to Crewe this year and take something away. What's really pleasing is that there's a lot more to come from us this year'.
