Alport Reserves 2 Church Stretton Town 0

A solid performance from Alport saw them topple the league cup finalists.Alport took the game to stretton and went a goal up inside the opening minute.George Haller's corner kick was headed back across the 6 yard box by Jordan Maclean and defensive partner Stu Bailey headed home from close range.Alport dominated the early period of the game and almost increased their lead when Christian Langdon played in Mike Sutton whose left foot strike just missed the target.Stretton started to get a grip of Alport's midfield later on in the first half and caused the Alport defence some problems, with their pace and trickery in the wide areas.Alport keeper Wilkinson produced several fine catches from a series of Stretton corners to keep his team ahead at half time.
The second period continued to be a tight affair with both teams firing shots from outside the penalty area wide of the target. However in the 75th minute Alport claimed the all important second goal.Haller's free kick was headed onto the cross bar by an unmarked Stu Bailey and Maclean was first to react and thrashed the ball into the roof of the net, from close range.Stretton threw caution to the wind and pushed players foward but with mom Andy Batchelor and defender Andy Edge in top form they could find no way through. As the game entered the final stages Alport really should increased their lead with Jordy Kennedy,Craig Groom and Alex Dunne all going close with strikes.

Ketley Bank 2 Alport Reserves 1

Alport took on second placed in the league, and should really have claimed a point, but Bank denied them by scoring a 87th minute winner.Alport started in determined mood defending well and looking dangerous on the break.Bank caused the Alport defence problems with several long throw ins that were flicked on into the 6 yard box by their big striker and keeper Ryan Wilkinson made several important interceptions.Bank took the lead in the 20th minute when their striker Martin got in behind the Alport back four and made no mistake poking the ball home at the second attempt, after a fortunate rebound fell kindly for him.Alport responded with Matt Morris and Andy Batchelor sending long range strikes just wide of the target. In the 35th minute Alport thought they had equalised when Christian Langdon played in strike partner Rob Brassington who fired home from 20 yards, but was unfortunately marginally flagged offside and the goal was chalked off.On the stroke of half time Chris Jeavons had a shot cleared of the line, after Bank failed to clear an Alport corner.
The second half started well for Alport and it was no surprise that they equalised in the 60th minute, when George Hallers' wicked inswinging corner deceived the Bank keeper and landed in the back of the net.Alport created several more chances with Langdon and Haller firing just wide of the target and a Jordan Maclean header cleared of the line.Bank also had chances and Wilkinson had to be alert to push a fierce strike just round the post.Alport's resistance was finally broken, late in the game, when Mcgivern fired into the top corner after a partially cleared corner fell kindly for him.

Wellington Amatuers Reserves 2 Alport Reserves 2

An entertaining end to end match, played in a cup tie spirit, ended with both teams sharing the points.Alport raced into two goal lead with strikes in the 20th and 30th minutes. Firstly, Alex Dunne slotted the ball through the keepers legs and into the back of the net from 10 yards after Rob Brassington played him through on goal, and then George Haller latched on to a Matt Morris pass and scored with a neat side foot finish from 12 yards, after a superb 40 yard run.Morris then had a great chance to make it 3-0 but saw his effort narrowly miss the target, after jinking his way into the penalty area.Ams had several chances of their own and Alport keeper Ryan Wilkinson, had to be on top form to tip a fierce 18 yard shot over the bar. From the resultant corner kick Alport survived a goalmouth scramble, with Morris eventually clearing the danger.
The second half started badly for Alport, with Ams scoring twice inside the opening 10 minutes.A quickly taken free kick in the 55th minute caught Alport napping and Jones made no mistake from just inside the penalty area and then a Spittle back post header from a corner kick drew the teams level.Alport recovered from this set back and really should have gone onto win the game. They showed all their battling qualities and Mike Sutton twice,Morris,Langdon and Haller all went close to scoring but found the Ams keeper in top form. Those missed chances could have proved costly and only a superbly timed penalty area tackle from mom Pete Eley prevented Ams from sneaking a winning goal.

Church Stretton Town 2 Alport Reserves 1
Alport put in a spirited performance against Stretton and deserved a share of the points but they were again punished defensively and let Stretton of the hook with some wayward finishing. The hosts took the lead in the 25th minute, with a spectacular 22 yard strike when foward Jones, found himself in space and let fly.Alport had opportunities of their own with Jordy kennedy having a close range shot well saved, after running onto Chris Jeavons through pass.Rob brassington and Matt Morris linked up well inside the penalty area and Morris had his 8 yard strike pushed around the post for a corner.Brassington then rose the highest from the corner kick only to see his close range header just fly over the bar.Stretton had chances of their own with fullback Steve burchell blocking a goalbound shot and Jordan Maclean clearing the ball off the goal line after several corner kicks. The second period continued in the same manner with both teams looking dangerous on the break. In the 70th minute Stretton took a 2 goal lead when mom Ashley Wilson was exposed in the right back position and Stretton's striker crossed for Jarrod to score from 6 yards out.Alport's defence looked for the offside decision but the linesmans flag stayed down.Alport then put an extra striker on and took the game to Stretton in the last 20 minutes.Jeavons and Kennedy both went close on several occasions with Kennedy spurning a great chance when he shot wide after Ashley Wilson's free kick had struck the bar. However Kennedy made amends in the 84th minute when he tucked away a penalty after Morris had been up ended inside the Stretton area.Alport continued to push for the equaliser and only a great save from the Stretton keeper ,with his feet, kept Alport out.

and made no mistake when he slotted the ball into the net from 12 yards. The game flowed from end to end at this stage, but it was Gates' who snatched the lead in the 65th minute, when Alport full back, Alex Dunne was out jumped at the back post and Gates' midfielder Bailey headed home from close range. As Alport pushed players foward they were caught out in the 75th minute when Dawe produced a clincal finish from close range. Brown Clee 3 Alport Reserves 1 14/11/2009

Alport gifted Clee a place in the league cup semi finals, giving away 2 needless penalties, one in each half. With the strong wind in their favour Clee put the Alport defence under some early pressure and keeper Ryan Wilkinson had to deal with several strikes and crosses from just outside the penalty area.In the 20th minute mom Ashley Wilson clipped the heels of Clee's foward and a penalty was awarded.Clee foward Bassett converted the spot kick.Alport then got to grips with the windy conditions with midfielders Chris Jeavons and Matt Morris starting to push foward.A neat combination of passes between the midfield duo, on the edge of the Clee penalty box,set up Alport's George Haller whose 12 yard strike was superbly kept out by Clee's keeper. The second period saw Alport almost equalise immediately, with Craig Groom firing over the bar from 10 yards after moving onto a Jordan Maclean through ball. However the equaliser did arrive in the 60th minute when Rob Brassington flicked a Haller corner kick into the 6yard box and striker Jordy Kennedy headed home from close range. With Alport still celebrating their goal, Clee caught Alport cold, with an on rushing Ryan Wilkinson up ending a foward and conceding another penalty.Clee's Bowker scoring this time from the spot.Alport recovered from this body blow and kept Clee's keeper busy with a series of free kicks and corners,as they pushed players foward looking for the equaliser. However,in the 87th minute Clee's Devey wrapped the tie up for the home side with a neat finish from 8 yards after Alport had thrown caution to the wind, and were caught on the break.

07/11/2009  Wroxeter Rovers 2 Alport Reserves 0
Wroxeter's clinical finishing in front of goal proved to be the major difference between both   teams in this hard fought county league match.Rovers started strongly and went on to dominate the early stages of the game, with a series of corners and free kicks keeping the Alport defence busy.In the 20th minute Rover's striker latched onto  Andy Edge's mistimed header and drilled the ball home from 20 yards out.Alport recoved their composure after this set back and started to cause the Rovers defence some problems.Midfielder Ashley Wilson drove into the Rovers penaty area and whipped a great cross into the six yard box which the Alport fowards George Haller and Jordy Kennedy just failed to reach.Alport's best chance of the first half then fell to Haller, who ran onto Wilson's crossfield pass, tucked the ball underneath the advancing Rovers keeper but unfortunately watched a Rovers defender clear the ball of the goal line. The second half continued in much the same way with both teams looking dangerous on the break. It was Rovers though who extended their lead, when in the 55 minute they were awarded a corner and their striker drilled home from 8 yards out after the Alport defence failed to mark him at the back post. The hosts could have extended their lead even further in the 75th minute when they were awarded a hotly disputed penalty, however Ryan Wilkinson dived to his left to pull off a great save. High flying Hodnet were hot favourites,to take all 3 points, before the start of this local derby. However Alport proved to be stubborn opponents. In an evenly balanced match both teams created chances, but it was Alport who opened the scoring in the 25th minute, when striker Jordy Kennedy latched onto keeper Ryan Wilkinson's long clearance and lobbed the ball over the advancing Hodnet keeper, into the empty net.Hodnet went close to  scoring moments later when their striker was put through on goal, but Ryan Wilkinson blocked his shot and to Alport's relief the rebound was blasted wide.Alport then threaten to increase their lead, but failed to convert, several crosses that flashed across the Hodnet six yard box.In the second period Alport found themselves under pressure as Hodnet pressed for an equaliser. In the 50th minute Hodnet scored after a wind assisted free kick from 30 yards, struck the Alport bar and landed at the feet of their striker, who made no mistake from close range. The hosts then took the lead in the 55th minute, when a driven cross was only partially cleared and Hodnet's striker headed home from close range.Alport rallied and George Haller had his strike well saved after latching onto a Steve Burchell through ball.Ben Woods then went close with a back post header, from a free kick.Alport's determination was finally rewarded when in the 75th minute, midfielder Christian Langdon lifted the ball into the far corner of the net, to earn Alport a share of the points.Defender Andy Edge was Alport's mom.

17/10/2009 Brown Clee 7 Alport Reserves 3

Alport started this game well, causing Clee alot of problems with their passing and movement.Andy Batchelor had a header well saved from a corner and Jordy Kennedy headed just over the bar from 10 yards out.It was against the run of play that Clee took the lead when their midfielder struck the ball low and hard, from outside the penalty area.Alport responed immediately with Christian Langdon firing home a rebound after his initial shot had been saved.Alport then took the lead, through a Jordy Kennedy penalty, after a Clee defender had handled.Clee then equalised following a scramble inside the Alport penalty area. With the game flowing from end to end Alport again took the lead with Christian Langdon scoring his second goal of the game, slotting the ball underneath the advancing Clee keeper, after the referee had played an advantage, which caught the Clee defence napping.Unfortunately for Alport, Clee capitilised on two goalkeeping errors that gave them a 4-3 half time lead. The second period started badly for Alport, gifting Clee two more goals in quick succession.Alport never really recovered from that setback, and it was Clee who went on to dominate the later stages of the game.

10/10/2009 Church Stretton Town 2 Alport Reserves 0
Alport battled well against Stretton and could consider themselves unfortunate to not have forced the tie into extra time.A very evenly contested first half saw only a few clear cut chances created.Jordy Kennedy shot over the bar for Alport when well placed and Stretton threated several times from corner kicks.Stretton scored in the 30th minute when the Alport defence were slow clearing their lines and a Stretton foward sent a looping header into the far corner of the net.The second half started badly for Alport with Stretton forcing the visitors back and then taking a two goal lead in the 55th minute, with another header from a set play. The game flowed from end to end with keeper Ryan Wilkinson saving several long range efforts, but it was the home keeper who kept Alport at bay, making two brilliant saves from Christian Langdon strikes and then blocking a Jordy Kennedy free kick.Alport kept going until the final whistle and showed a real determination to bring a poor string of results to an end.Defender Jordan Maclean was the Alport mom.

03/10/2009 Newport Town 6 Alport Reserves 1

Alport found it hard going away at the league championship favourites. They started well and almost took an early lead in the 15th minute, when striker Jordy Kennedy latched on to through pass but unfortunately lobbed the ball over the bar, with the home keeper well beaten. The home side though, started to impose themselves in midfield and with their pace down the flanks they started to cause the Alport defence some problems.Newport took the lead in the 25th minute when Alport keeper Ryan Wilkinson's clearance was headed straight back into the path of the home striker, who slotted the ball home.Newport then enjoyed a purple patch with two more goals scored in quick succession.Alport still caused the home team problems on the counter attack, and had a strong appeal for a penalty, waved away when Christian Langdon's cross appeared to be handled. In the second period Alport continued to compete with the home side, with captain Andy Batchelor giving a solid perfrmance in the midfield.Newport increased their lead in the 65th minute, when Alport's appeals for offside were overlooked and the home striker struck the ball into the far corner of the net.In the 75th minute Alport's mom Phil Denson was just beaten to the ball inside the penalty area and Newport's striker completed his hat-trick with a neat finish.Alport still refused to lie down and two minutes later pulled a goal back through George Haller's superb 25 yard strike that gave the home keeper no chance.Alport then created several half chances with the best one falling to Ryan Wilkinson, but he scuffed his shot wide from six yards out.In the final minute defender, Ben Woods scored an own goal to round off a miserable afternoon for Alport.

29-09-2009 Ludlow Town Reserves 6 Alport Reserves 0
Alport played well during the first 35 minutes keeping Ludlow at bay and looking dangerous on the break, however in the 35 minute Alport allowed Ludlow's midfielder too much space, just outside the penalty box and he made no mistake with a superb 25 yard drive, which left Alport keeper Josh Williams stranded.5 minutes later Alport made the same mistake from an almost identical position, with the Ludlow striker drilling the ball home,to give the hosts a 2 goal cushion.Alport responded with George Haller almost embarassing  the Ludlow keeper, with a cross cum shot which was tipped over the bar. Then, striker for the day,Ryan Wilkinson almost coverted a cross at the far post, but the Ludlow defence managed to scramble the ball away.Ludlow started the second period strongly and their pyhsical strength over powered Alport's young side.Central defenders Jordan Maclean and mom Andy Edge kept Ludlow out until the 60th minute, when the Ludlow striker beat the offside trap and made no mistake from 10 yards out. Jordan Maclean then had a header cleared of the goal line from a corner, but it was Ludlow who finished the game the stronger with 3 further goals in the final 15 minutes, when an offside decision, poor defending and bad luck all went against Alport,to give the hosts an emphatic victory.

19/09/2009  Broseley Juniors 5 Alport Reserves 1
Inconsistant Alport crashed out of the Ethelston cup, after a poor performance.Alport were slow out of the blocks and found themselves trailing 2-0 inside the first 15 minutes. In the 10th minute Alport failed to deal with a Broseley corner and their striker blasted the ball into the roof of the net from 5 yards.Soon after, Broseley doubled their lead when their right midfielder burst into the Alport penalty area and slotted the ball home from 8 yards, giving keeper, Ryan Wilkinson no chance.Alport then contained Broseley for the rest of the first half and created a couple of half chances, without really testing the home keeper. After the break Alport reshuffled their side and started to put the Broseley defence under some pressure. In the 50th minute Andy Edge headed home a George Haller corner at the back post.Alport were now in control of the midfield, with mom Andy Batchelor pulling the strings and they looked in the mood to stage a come back. However those hopes were dashed when another defensive mistake saw Steve Burchell's attempted clearance strike Andy Edge and the rebound fell at the feet of Broseley's striker who tucked the ball past a hesitant Ryan Wilkinson.A deflated Alport conceded two late goals, the first a rebound from a penalty kick which fell kindly for the home striker to score at the second attempt and then with the  Alport defence appealing for offside,Broseley's striker made no mistake, from 12 yards.

05/09/2009 W.Alport Reserves 2 Meole Brace 0
Alport bounced back from last weeks disappointing result, with a much improved performance, that earned them a place in the 1st division cup quarter finals. An evenly contested first half saw Alport keeper Josh Williams, make a fine stop when a Meole midfielder struck a fierce shot from 25 yards out.Alport responded when George Haller rounded the on rushing Meole keeper, only to place the ball wide of the goal.Alport were very lively in attack, with midfielder Ashley Wilson, cutting in from the left and shooting from distance.Alport's Andy Batchelor then blazed the ball over the bar from 6 yards, after being picked out by fellow midfielder,Matt Morris.

29/08/2009 Alport Res 1 Ketley Bank Utd 6
alport's poor start to the season continued when they were over powered,in the first half,by a very committed ketley team.the visitors opened the scoring in the 10th minute when their striker escaped his marker to poke the ball home from close range.5 minutes later alport were 2-0 down, when a ketley midfielder was allowed to turn and shoot from 18 yards out and he made no mistake.alport responded briefly, with striker jordy kennedy narrowly missing the target and midfielder george haller shooting over the bar, when well placed.alport's best move of the game came in the 25th minute, with ashley wilson calmly placing the ball, into the bottom corner of the net, after some excellent approach play from mom luke woollam.alports revival did'nt last long though, they did'nt deal with a long throw properly and ketley's striker nipped in to chip the ball over alport keeper elliot saywell.then in the 40th minute ketley bundled the ball into the alport net from a corner kick.in the second period alport contained the league leaders. george haller went close, striking the visitors bar from 25 yards, but the final 10 minutes, sealed alport's fate, when a defensive lapse and a very harshly awarded penalty were clinically finished.

22/08/2009 Alport Reserves 0 Morda Utd Res 1

A sloppy and lackluster first half performance cost alport dearly as morda snatched all 3 points. Alport struggled to find their form and it was morda who took the lead in the 30th minute when alport man Andy Edge was dispossesed by a morda midfielder who drilled home a deflected 22 yard shot which left alport keeper Josh Williams completely wrong footed. That set back did spark a reaction from alport who went close to equalising from a series of corners and free kicks, Andy Edge heading narrowly wide and Jordan Maclean just failing to connect with a George Haller free kick. In the 44th minute Jordy Kennedy played in man of the match Haller who sprinted free of the visitors defence but shot tamely at the keeper when well placed.
In the second half alport showed far more desire and determination and should have run out comfortable winners but, bad finishing and some last ditch defending kept them out.
In the 60th minute Matt Morris cut inside two defenders and saw his strike hit the post and then scrambled to safety. The final 15 minutes saw alport lay siege to the visitors goal. A Jordan Maclean header was cleared off the goal line, George Haller struck the bar with a fierce strike, sub Steve Burchell lobbed over the bar and Dan Owen and Andy Edge shot wide when in good positions.

Alport's Jordy Kennedy and Christian Langdon narrowly missed the target when well placed and midfielder Ashley Wilson had a twenty yard strike well saved. Meole took the lead in the 75th minute when their lively striker beat two alport defenders inside the penalty area and drilled home from six yards out. Alport changed their formation and pushed an extra player foward which caused the Meole defence problems. The equiliser came in the 90th minute when sub Matt Morris drove into the Meole penalty area and cut the ball back to Jordy Kennedy, who was upended by a Meole defender. Kennedy tucked away the resultant penalty to give his side a share of the points.
